Just like new babies, new puppies offer me a world of hope

Everything they do is just adorable. Even when they are chewing my ankles and yelping at the tops of their lungs, I can't help it, I can never get enough! I told myself, "I will not give them names, they are not my dogs to keep" but everyone now has some little nickname. I love them all.
I am trying to teach them the way Bosco teaches them. She doesn't take any guff! If I had not seen how she makes them behave and tried to follow her example, I know I would have spoiled them, but thanks to mom's example I too, am helping them become well behaved.
I'm so proud when they "go" on the paper and glad for a few hours rest when they take their nap.

Busy Week # 8 03/26/2010

We got a lot accomplished this week. First day outside, first bath, completed and received the UKC puppy registrations. Today we took a field trip to a local preschool, with our four girls. Big fun! After that--the girls did their part to spread a little more puppy joy to some adult friends.

Some people take a coffee break, some prefer the puppy break.
Thanks to our friends for the lovin' !

If you haven't heard Texas weather has gone totally wack-a-doo! Snow yesterday was still on the ground and today it gets to 70 something degrees??? Anyway... I will be moving them bag and baggage back to their new digs in the garage.
I have folding screens for walls, and quilts hanging from ropes suspended from the ceiling. Kind of like my first apartment back in the 70s...actually it's nicer than my first apartment in the 70s.
Here we go into the 8th week of their lives and they all look so much like mine when I first got them at 8.5 weeks.

The first trip to the vet was Chris, me, Bosco, and 13 pups in a basket on my lap in the cab of our truck. The 2nd visit - this week was 2 pet carriers with 6-7 pups and Mom with the 2nd half at home with Chris. There was more room in the truck on the first trip.
Today-hard to be at work. I couldn't wait to get home and get my hands on them! They are cute fat and funny. Everything I need & want is at home.

February was a long month--Yeah, I know it's the shortest one and it seems like I just closed my eyes and it was over. Except for the part I thought would never end.

All pups are eating puppy food from a bowl now
It's not really puppy food--it's goat milk, puppy food and sometimes a little rice cereal. The bottles are being phased out gradually and Bosco is nursing less and less. I'll miss the feedings (a little) but I'm so glad they are growing up!

Well, all the people I always love

AND whoever made those stupid little baking dishes that were too small for anything that I have so many of... turns out they are PERFECT for feeding puppies

AND Meyenberg powdered goatsmilk "just mix and enjoy" yes I mixed and am so enjoying... puppies that lap it up from the stupid little bowls

AND God- for everything and especially building that little reflex into the pups at 3 1/2 weeks old that wakes up and says "time to eat like a big dog now! YAY!

AND THEY MAKE A CONVENIENT HEAD REST.
I wondered if I really needed to build these into the bed, I'm so glad we did. I can't tell you how many times I've heard a squeal and found one of the pups tucked safely behind mama. Whew!

Bosco is such a great mom and getting stronger every day.
Snow always makes here happy we went out early this morning for a walk.

Post Title. 02/21/2010

Wow, three weeks old today! My head is still spinning. Yesterday was kind of crazy, but today a little bit of calm.
We've had a little manicure (X 13) and tasted puppy food--mostly on the fingers, but a little lapping from the "the bigs". Except that designation hardly works anymore because "the littles" are catching up in size and strength!
Something new happens every day...sometimes every couple of hours (X 13).

I can't believe two weeks have passed already since Bosco had her puppies. It's been a constant job of feeding her, feeding pups, rushing to the vet, laundry, and life!
She is the most amazing dog I have ever known. Even when she is so tired she cannot hold her head up she is the best little mother I've ever seen. At this point she is teaching me so much. There are no words to express my appreciation for Bosco my wonderful friend.
